Josh Jones plays safety in American football for the National Football League’s Seattle Seahawks. In the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers chose him out of NC State, where he played college football.
He has also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Dallas Cowboys. Jones was chosen by the Green Bay Packers 61st overall in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. In 2017, Jones was selected as the eighth safety.
Jones and the Packers agreed to a four-year, $4.23 million contract on May 19, 2017, which also included a $1.21 million signing bonus. He made his first regular-season professional tackle during Green Bay’s 17-9 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in the season opener.
The Jacksonville Jaguars picked up Jones off waivers on December 31, 2019. Jones was selected as the Jaguars’ strong safety starter to open the 2020 campaign.
Jones was dismissed from the game against the Houston Texans in Week 5 of the 2020 campaign after starting a helmet-to-helmet hit on wide receiver Brandin Cooks.
With a chest ailment, he was put on injured reserve on November 14, 2020. Jones joined the Indianapolis Colts practice squad on October 20, 2021. On November 1, he was promoted to the active roster.
