Josh Uche is a linebacker for the New England Patriots of the National Football League.  He attended the University of Michigan, where he played college football.

Uche was born in 1998 in Miami, Florida. He is the son of Nigerian immigrants. He received his high school education at Christopher Columbus in Miami.

Uche received a full scholarship to study and play football at the University of Michigan. Uche suffered a torn meniscus and a “bad illness” during his freshman season in 2016, which limited his playing time to only four games.

In 2017, when he was a sophomore, he suffered a stress fracture and was only able to play in a restricted capacity in 10 games.

Uche finished the 2017 campaign feeling dissatisfied with the amount of playing time he had received. In his recollection, “It was really frustrating for me because I wanted to be out there with my teammates, assisting, participating, and doing something to just help the team win. At the moment, I just had the feeling that I was useless, and it made me angry.

When it became clear that I wouldn’t be able to achieve that, I started to wonder if this job was really the best one for me “Uche went to see Don Brown, the defensive coordinator, to vent his frustration and make his case for receiving more playing time in 2018.
