Lawrence, who moved to the United States at the age of 2, was born in Panama in 1994.

Lawrence played baseball for Jacksonville University and Daytona State College while attending First Coast High School in Jacksonville, Florida.

In the 12th round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft, he was selected by the Colorado Rockies and signed.

Prior to being transferred to the Grand Junction Rockies, Lawrence made his career debut after signing with the Boise Hawks.

He had 22 bullpen outings for the two teams, going 0-3 with an 8.39 ERA. He threw to a 4-6 record and 4.98 ERA in 49 relief appearances while playing for both Boise and the Asheville Tourists in 2016.

In 2017, he returned to Asheville and went 0-2 with a 1.65 ERA in only 16+1/3 innings due to injury.

Lawrence pitched for the Lancaster JetHawks for the whole 2018 season, posting a 2.65 ERA, a 0-2 record, and 62 strikeouts in 57 13 innings of relief.

Lawrence participated in the Arizona Fall League following the 2018 season. After the 2018 season, the Rockies also included him on their 40-man roster.

Lawrence played for the Hartford Yard Goats and Albuquerque Isotopes in the 2019 season, going 1-5 with an 8.76 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 37 innings of relief pitching.
