Lucas Gilbreath is a pitcher for the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball.

Gilbreath attended Legacy High School in Colorado’s Broomfield. The Colorado Rockies selected him in the 36th round of the 2014 MLB draft, but he did not sign and instead played collegiate baseball at the University of Minnesota.

He played summer college baseball for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2016. In the seventh round of the 2017 MLB draft, he was picked and signed by the Rockies.

Gilbreath started his professional career with the Grand Junction Rockies at the rookie level.

Gilbreath pitched for the Single-A Asheville Tourists in 2018, compiling a record of 7-8 with a 5.04 ERA and 119 strikeouts in 116.0 innings.

During the 2019 season, he pitched for the High-A Lancaster JetHawks, compiling a 5-10 record, a 5.50 ERA, 143 strikeouts, and 28 appearances.

After the 2020 season, the Rockies added him to their 40-man roster. Gilbreath was promoted to the major leagues for the first time on April 17, 2021, but was optioned back down the following day without making an appearance.

May 1 marked his recall to the active roster. That day, he made his Major League Baseball debut and tossed an inning of relief, but Josh Rojas of the Arizona Diamondbacks hit a home run off of him.
