Mekhi Becton, who was selected by the New York Jets with the 11th overall pick in the NFL draft, has agreed to terms on a contract that will pay him $18.45 million over the course of four years.
The contract comes with a signing bonus of $10.98 million and is fully guaranteed, both of which are based on the rookie slotting system used by the league.
The New York Jets announced on Monday that they had signed three rookies to contracts: defensive end Jabari Zuniga, who was selected in the third round; quarterback James Morgan, who was selected in the fourth round; and punter Braden Mann, who was selected in the sixth round.
The only player from New York’s nine-player draft class who has not yet signed with a team is Safety Ashtyn Davis, who was selected in the third round.
On Tuesday, freshmen were supposed to show up at the team’s facilities in Florham Park, New Jersey, to start going through the COVID-19 testing process.
Becton, who is 21 years old, announced earlier in the day via Twitter that he had arrived in New Jersey, which fueled rumors that he would soon sign a contract.
