Horn Lake High School was where Dean played football throughout his time in high school. The Butkus award was bestowed upon him when he was a senior.

After receiving offers from Ole Miss and Alabama, five-star recruit Dean decided to sign with Georgia instead of attending either of those schools.

In spite of dealing with injuries, Dean was able to record a total of 25 tackles while playing for the Georgia Bulldogs football team as a true freshman.
