Jones went to school in the Cornwells Heights neighborhood of Bensalem, Pennsylvania’s Holy Ghost Preparatory School. When he was in high school, he played shortstop.

Jones came out with a bang after hitting a home run in his final at-bat in high school. He will play baseball at the collegiate level for the University of Virginia after making his commitment.



The Cleveland Indians selected Jones in the 2016 Major League Baseball draft in the second round. The Indians paid Jones $2.25 million as a signing bonus on July 1, 2017.

For the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in 2017, he hit.317 with four home runs, 33 RBIs, and 18 doubles. On both sides of the ball, he hit 19 home runs and drove in 66 runs in a total of 120 games in 2018.

Jones led the minor leagues in walks with 96. In 126 games for Lynchburg and Akron, he hit.272/.409/.442 with 15 homers and 63 RBIs.

He also played for the Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League. He quit after suffering a hand injury. Due to inclement weather, he didn’t play in the minors in 2020. Cleveland signed Jones on November 20, 2020, and he played for Columbus Clippers in 2021.
