Raekwon McMillan

Former five-star recruit McMillan attended Ohio State for three years before deciding to join the NFL. He was selected by the Miami Dolphins with the 54th overall choice in the second round, making him one of the better off-the-ball prospects in the 2017 draft.

McMillan, though, eventually ended up sitting out his whole rookie season after tearing his ACL in the Dolphins’ first preseason game. But when he came back the following year, the defense of the club saw an immediate improvement.

For the Dolphins in 2018, McMillan started 16 games, and he placed second on the team in both tackles and forced fumbles.

Although he had potential, he was unable to repeat similar levels of play; as a result, he saw little playing time the following year after Miami switched head coaches, and in August of the following year, he was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Before joining the Patriots in 2021, McMillan played 16 games for his new team, largely on special teams. His NFL resume lists 45 total in-game appearances.

In order to retain McMillan under contract past the 2021 season, the Patriots revised his deal in September of last year. He is now listed on the team’s books with a salary cap hit of $1.06 million as a result, which is currently Top-51-eligible.

The contract itself includes a $100,000 guaranteed salary that is only partially guaranteed, as well as $180,000 in per-game bonuses that are unlikely to be earned and a $50,000 roster bonus.
