Sam Hentges is an American born professional baseball player known to play as a pitcher for the Cleveland Indians baseball team of Major League Baseball(MLB). Sam was born on July 18, 1996, in Shoreview, Minnesota in the USA to parents Mark Hentges and Sally Hentges.

Sam attended Mounds View High School in Arden Hills, Minnesota where he played for the school’s baseball team. After high school, he was supposed to play college baseball at the University of Arkansas but chose to play professional baseball after he was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 2014 MLB draft.

That year, the Indians assigned him to the Arizona League Indians of the minor league for him to make his professional debut. He played for both the Arizona League Indians and Mahoning Valley Scrappers for the 2015 season and he played with the Lake County Captains for the whole of 2016.

Sam again played for the Arizona League Indians and Mahoning Valley during the 2017 minor league season. He was added to the Indian’s 40-man roster when the 2018 season ended.

In 2019, he was with the Akron RubberDucks. In 2020, the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic that broke out. The Indians called him up to the major leagues in April 2021 and he made his MLB debut on April 20, 2021, for the Indians.
