He participated in football competitions for Robert E. Lee High School while a student there. In 2017 and 2018, he competed in collegiate football at Northeast Mississippi Community College before transferring to the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) for his junior and senior years.
For the Ole Miss Rebels, he played collegiate football there. In 2019, he participated in 12 games while attending Ole Miss, recording 38 tackles, 6 sacks, and 1 interception. He started six out of the ten games he played in 2020, tallying 40 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss, and four sacks. When he came back to Ole Miss in 2021, he shattered the school record most sacks in a single season. He was selected for Sporting News and Walter Camp’s second team All-America in 2021 as a senior.
He was chosen for the first team of the Southeastern Conference and the Associated Press third team of All-America, as well as Phil Steele’s fourth team of All-America. With 10.5 sacks, he tied the school record, and with 57 total tackles, he set a Rebel defensive lineman record dating back to 2018. With the 56th overall choice in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Williams was chosen by the Dallas Cowboys.
