Sterling Hofrichter competes in the National Football League for the Miami Dolphins. He was born on December 5, 1996, to Bill and Debbie Hofrichter in Jacksonville, Florida, in the United States. He played high school football at Armwood High School in Seffner, Florida. He participated in college football for the Syracuse Orange at Syracuse University from 2015 to 2019.

Throughout his college career, he accumulated 270 punts for 11,651 net yards, a 43.2 average. Hofrichter was chosen by the Atlanta Falcons in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft. On August 3, 2021, the Falcons waived him or injured him before putting him on injured reserve. He was released on August 26, 2021, at noon. Although he attempted four field goals and kicked off for two seasons, his primary position in college was punter.



Throughout his college career, he punted 270 times for 11,651 net yards, averaging 43.2 yards per punt. On December 14, 2021, he was added to the practice squad of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was released in 2022 on January 18th. He and the Buccaneers finalized a reserve/future deal agreement on January 31, 2022. He was released on July 29, 2022, and on August 5 he signed with the Miami Dolphins.
