T. J. Edwards participates in the National Football League as a linebacker for the Philadelphia Eagles. He stands 1.85 meters tall and weighs 110 kilograms. In high school, he attended Lakes Community High School, where he also played football. After graduating from high school, he made a commitment to play college football for the Western Michigan Broncos, but he later decided against it and instead attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison to play for the Wisconsin Badgers.
He redshirted in 2014 as a true freshman before starting all 13 games in 2015 as a redshirt freshman. Edwards signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in May 2019 as an undrafted free agent after going undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft. He was put on injured reserve in October 2020 after sustaining a hamstring injury. He made a big play in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers when he blocked a punt with the Eagles trailing 18-13 in the fourth quarter.
That week, the Eagles prevailed, and Edwards’ performance earned him the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week award. He had a terrific showing in their Week 11 game, making two interceptions and recovering a fumble, and the Eagles decided to sign him to a $3.2 million, one-year agreement.
