Jones was born in San Francisco, and he received his high school diploma from Deer Valley High School in Antioch, California, in 2007.
While there, he participated in high school football. As a running back, he was recognized as a member of the first team of San Francisco Chronicle All-Metro, in addition to being named the Player of the Year by the Contra Costa Times.
Jones was also selected the Most Valuable Player of the Bay Valley Athletic League, and he was the Most Valuable Player on Offense for his club. As a two-way starter for his school’s football team, he scored 19 touchdowns during the season, which was a new single-season record
In addition to scoring 13 touchdowns while running the ball, he also scored three touchdowns while receiving the ball and two scores while returning punts.
Jones has 37 tackles, one sack, and three interceptions on the defensive side of the ball. He was able to return one of his interceptions for a touchdown.
He was the driving force behind the Wolverines’ perfect regular season record of 10-0 and their first league championship.
