He attended North Crowley High School, where he participated in high school football. He was chosen for both the first team all-district and the third team all-state during his junior year.

He made his initial pledge to play collegiate football at Abilene Christian when still a three-star prospect fresh out of high school. Despite receiving offers from Houston, Navy, and New Mexico, he decommitted and chose to play for the University of Tulsa’s Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team instead.

He participated in the season’s final four games despite redshirting his true freshman year in 2019.
