As an offensive tackle with the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League, Tyler Smith is a professional football player. He is 151 kg in weight and 1.98 meters tall. He attended North Crowley High School, where he participated in high school football. He was chosen for both the first team all-district and the third team all-state during his junior year.
He made his initial pledge to play collegiate football at Abilene Christian when still a three-star prospect fresh out of high school. Despite receiving offers from Houston, Navy, and New Mexico, he decommitted and chose to play for the University of Tulsa’s Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team instead.
He participated in the season’s final four games despite redshirting his true freshman year in 2019. He was chosen first team all-American Athletic Conference in 2020 after starting every game at left tackle during the team’s COVID-19-shortened season (AAC). He was further selected for the 2020 FWAA all-freshman team.
As a redshirt sophomore, he started every one of the Golden Hurricane’s 12 contests and earned second team All-AAC honors. After the season, he declared that he will renounce his remaining collegiate eligibility and declare for the 2022 NFL Draft instead. The Dallas Cowboys selected Smith with the 24th overall choice in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
