Tyler Smith plays football professionally and is an offensive tackle for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League. He weighs 151 kg and stands 1.98 m tall. He played high school football while attending North Crowley High School. During his junior year, he was selected for both the first team all-district and the third team all-state.
As a three-star prospect just out of high school, he first committed to playing football at Abilene Christian. He turned down offers from Houston, Navy, and New Mexico in favor of playing for the Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team at the University of Tulsa.
He redshirted his true freshman year in 2019, however he participated in the final four games of the season. He started all nine of the club’s games at left tackle during the COVID-19-shortened season and was selected to the American Athletic Conference’s first team in 2020. (AAC). He was also chosen for the 2020 FWAA all-freshman squad.
He was named to the second team All-AAC as a redshirt sophomore who started all 12 of his team’s games. He announced after the season that he would forgo his remaining collegiate eligibility and enter the 2022 NFL Draft instead. In the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Smith was selected by the Dallas Cowboys with the 24th overall choice.
