Cajuste was drafted by the Patriots in the third round of the 2019 NFL draft, however, he has only played in one healthy season so far. He spent almost all of 2020 and 2021 on injured reserve.
Still, Cajuste has accumulated a fair amount of wisdom over the years. In addition to his three years with the Patriots program and extensive playing experience, he also spent time at West Virginia from 2014-2018.
Cajuste started at left tackle for the Mountaineers in his sophomore year after sitting out his first year as a true freshman on a redshirt.
He was only able to play in eight games between 2015 and 2016 due to knee and ACL injuries, but he came back strong to start the remaining 23 games of his college career.
After not allowing a sack in his senior season, he was honored as a second-team All-American and was named to two All-Big 12 teams.
Cajuste is entering the final season of his rookie contract with a salary cap amount of $1.03 million, good enough to place him in the Top 51.
The terms of the contract are simple: he will earn $825,000 in base pay and $205,545 in signing bonus proration when he is on the field. His potential dead cap hit in the event of a release would be minimal if only the second number was guaranteed.
