Bubic graduated in 2015 from Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, California, where he played football and baseball.

Bubic was 0–3 with a 3.26 ERA in 21 games as a rookie at Stanford in 2016. (six starts). He started 15 games as a sophomore in 2017, going 7–6 with a 2.79 ERA and 96 strikeouts in 90 innings.

After the season, he pitched for the Yarmouth–Dennis Red Sox in the Cape Cod Baseball League, where he was named Pitcher of the Year after going 4–1 with a 1.65 ERA in 32+23 innings.

He was nominated to the Pac-12 All-Conference Team after going 8–1 with a 2.62 ERA as a junior in 2018.

Bubic was selected 40th overall in the 2018 Major League Baseball draft by the Kansas City Royals, and he signed with the Royals on June 18 for $1,597,500.

He debuted professionally with the Idaho Falls Chukars, where he was named to the Pioneer League All-Star team. Bubic had a 2–3 record with a 4.03 ERA in ten starts with Idaho Falls.

Bubic started the season with the Lexington Legends. He was promoted to the Wilmington Blue Rocks after posting a 4–1 record with a 2.08 ERA in nine starts.

He was 7–4 with a 2.30 ERA in 17 starts with Wilmington. Bubic has been named to the All-Star Futures Game for 2019.
