The Dominican  Republic native played for the Texas Rangers, Chicago White Sox, and Detroit Tigers before joining the Padres.

In July 2011, Mazara signed a contract with the Texas Rangers as an international free agent, receiving a record-breaking $5 million signing bonus for a non-American talent.

After the 2015 season, the Rangers signed him to their 40-man roster to keep him from being taken in the Rule 5 draft.

Mazara and the San Diego Padres agreed to a minor league deal on December 16, 2021.
