He played football at Northern Iowa University, where he was a student. Brown was up in Lenox, Iowa, and attended Lenox High School there.

There, he played eight-man football as well as baseball, basketball, golf, and track. Brown played tight end and defensive end for the school’s eight-man football squad.



He was picked for the first team of All-State as a senior after recording 67 tackles, a state-best 17 sacks, and four fumble recoveries.

He recorded 17 sacks, which was the most in the state, and 24 receptions for 388 yards and seven touchdowns on offence.
