American professional baseball player Joseph Taylor Ward plays third base and outfield for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball. He was born on December 14, 1993.

The Angels selected Ward with the 26th overall pick in the first round of the 2015 MLB Draft. He debuted in the MLB in 2018.

Ward gained his high school education at  Fresno State and graduated from Shadow Hills High School in Indio, California. He participated in the 2014 Cape Cod Baseball League’s summer collegiate baseball season for the Orleans Firebirds.



He was drafted in the first round (26th overall) of the 2015 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Angels. Ward began his career with the Orem Owlz before moving up to the Burlington Bees. He received the Pioneer League Mid-Season All-Star honor.

He switched from catcher to the third baseman before the 2018 season. On August 14, 2018, he received his first promotion to the majors, and that same day, he made his MLB debut.

With a groin strain, Ward spent the first 10 days of the 2022 season on the injured list. On April 16, 2022, he played his first game of the season against the Texas Rangers, going 2-for-3 with a solo home run.

In his first multi-homer game, a 3-0 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on April 25, 2022, Ward blasted two home runs and carried the entire offense.
