What team became the Cleveland Browns?

The Cleveland Browns are a professional American football team based in Cleveland. Named after original coach and co-founder Paul Brown.

The team is head coached by  Kevin Stefanski with its team owner being Dee Haslam.  Cleveland Browns have three mascots which happen to be Brownie the Elf, Chomps and the Swagger.

According to reports, the history of the team started in the year 1944 when taxi-cab magnate Arthur B. “Mickey” McBride secured a Cleveland franchise in the newly formed All-America Football Conference (AAFC).



The team used to be called the  Brown Bombers, after the nickname of the revered boxer of that era, Joe Louis and was later changed to the Cleveland Browns.

The team that became the Cleveland Browns is known as the Cleveland Panthers which was named after a failed football team which prompted the change of the name to the Cleveland Browns.
