A linebacker with the New York Jets of the National Football League, Marcell Harris was born on June 9, 1994. (NFL). At Florida, he played collegiate football.

Between 2014 and 2016, Harris recorded 102 tackles and two interceptions. He did not play in the 2017 season because of a torn Achilles tendon.

The San Francisco 49ers selected Harris in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft (184th overall). Harris was placed on injured reserve on September 3, 2018.

On November 1, 2018, he was brought off injured reserve and added to the active roster. In Week 16’s game against the Chicago Bears, Harris hit Mitchell Trubisky with a late hit.

He was thus penalized $10,026 six days later. Harris was released by the 49ers on August 31, 2019, and the following day he was added to the practice squad. On October 3, 2019, he received a promotion to the active roster.

In Week 13’s tight 20-17 road defeat to the Baltimore Ravens, Harris caused a fumble on quarterback Lamar Jackson and recovered the ball. The 49ers made it to Super Bowl LIV, however, they were defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs 31–20.

On March 5, 2021, Harris extended his deal with the 49ers by one year. It was announced at the start of the 2021 NFL season that Harris will move from strong safety to linebacker.

Harris agreed to a contract with the New York Jets on April 25, 2022.
