Canadian professional baseball pitcher Cal Paul Quantrill, who competes for the Cleveland Guardians of Major League Baseball, was born on February 10, 1995. (MLB). He was formerly a member of the San Diego Padres.

At Trinity College School in Port Hope, Ontario, Quantrill earned four varsity baseball letters in addition to letters in volleyball and hockey.

Despite being selected by the New York Yankees in the 26th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft, he decided to enroll at Stanford University instead of signing a contract.

Quantrill was one of the best available players when the 2016 Major League Baseball draft began.  The San Diego Padres chose him with the eighth overall selection. Quantrill was acquired by the Padres and assigned to the Arizona Padres.

On May 1, 2019,[9] Quantrill made his major league debut with the Padres, pitching 5+23 innings while giving up two runs. On May 25, at Toronto, he earned his first victory in a major league game.

On May 26, he was given the El Paso Chihuahuas as an option. Quantrill made 10 appearances for the Padres in 2020 and went 2-0.

On August 31, 2020, the Padres traded Quantrill to the Cleveland Indians in exchange for Mike Clevinger, Greg Allen, and Matt Waldron, as well as Austin Hedges, Josh Naylor, and the minor leaguers Gabriel Arias, Owen Miller, and Joey Cantillo.

Quantrill played in 8 games for the 2020 Cleveland Indians, recording a 0-0 record, a 1.84 ERA, and 13 strikeouts in 14+2/3 innings thrown.
