Dakoda Shepley came into the world on December 27th, 1994. Ice hockey was his primary sport, and he didn’t start playing football until his second season after he had suffered a hand injury during the first.

He became a student at the University of British Columbia after registering there. In 2013, he wore a red shirt for the team.

He started at right tackle for four seasons and right guard for two of those seasons. He was a contributor to the team’s victory in the Vanier Cup during his sophomore year. He was selected as an All-star for Canada West at right tackle when he was a senior.

Dakoda Shepley was chosen by the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League with the fifth overall choice in the first round of the 2018 CFL Draft. The CFL Draft is held annually by the Canadian Football League. In 2018, he spent some time playing with the New York Jets, which is a team in the National Football League.

Shepley was a member of the UBC Thunderbirds football team during his time as a college student. Shepley was signed by the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2018, shortly after the conclusion of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Before the Jets cut him loose on August 31, 2018, he was a member of the team through training camp and had played in three preseason games with them.
