Born on August 9, 1996, Deon Cain is an American football wide receiver who is a free agent. He played college football at Clemson.
In Tampa, Florida, Cain attended Tampa Bay Technical High School. He was the high school football team’s quarterback. He signed a letter of intent to play collegiate football for Dabo Swinney’s Clemson University and was considered a five-star recruit.
At Clemson, Cain switched to wide receiver. He participated in 13 games as a true freshman in 2015, with 34 receptions for 582 yards and five touchdowns.
Due to his suspension for failing a drug test, he was unable to participate in either the 2015 Orange Bowl or the 2016 College Football Playoff National Championship.
In 2016, Cain served his suspension out again and participated in all 15 games, including Clemson’s victory over Alabama in the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship. He has 38 receptions for 724 yards and nine touchdowns on the year.
Cain made the decision to bypass his senior year and enter the 2018 NFL Draft after his junior season.
The Indianapolis Colts selected Cain in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft (185th overall). Cain’s rookie season was abruptly ended when he tore his ACL in the first preseason game, interrupting a strong training camp. [14] On August 12th, 2018, Cain was placed on injured reserve.
He played in the Colts’ 2019 season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers, marking his NFL debut. He had two receptions for 35 yards in the 30-24 defeat. He was waived on November 9.
