Kalil Pimpleton was competing alongside his Muskegon Big Red teammates in the Division 3 state championship game at Ford Field in Detroit five years ago.

The native of Muskegon has now signed an undrafted free-agent contract with the Detroit Lions, putting him one step closer to making Ford Field his permanent residence.

Pimpleton finished his career as a college student with the following statistics: 170 receptions for 2,131 yards and 12 touchdowns as a receiver; 39 carries for 299 yards and five touchdowns as a rusher; 48 punt returns for 567 yards and two touchdowns; and a 7-for-12 passing performance for 112 yards and one touchdown as a passer.

He was honored with All-MAC accolades in each of the three seasons that he played for Mount Pleasant, and in 2021, he was selected as the Special Teams Player of the Year for the MAC.

During his professional day, the athlete, who stands 5 feet, 8 inches tall, recorded a time of 4.49 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He also posted impressive metrics in the 10-yard split (1.52 seconds) and the 20-yard split (2.5 seconds). He also showed how agile he was by running the shuttle in 4.04 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.93 seconds.
