In 2015, Gil became an international free agent and signed with the Minnesota Twins for a signing bonus of ninety thousand dollars.

In his first season as a member of a professional team, he pitched for the Dominican Summer League Twins and made a total of 14 starts, with a 0–2 record with a 2.59 earned run average.

He split the 2018 season between the Pulaski Yankees and the Staten Island Yankees, where he made a combined 12 starts and had a record of 2–3 with a 1.96 earned run average while striking out 68 batters in 46 innings pitched.

The 2019 season began with him playing for the Charleston River Dogs, but in July he was traded to the Tampa Tarpons. The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders were the lucky recipients of his perfect game in June.

He made his major league debut against the Baltimore Orioles on August 3, 2021.  He won with a six-inning, four-hit, six-strikeout performance. Gil’s 15+23 scoreless innings were the most by a Yankee since 1961. He’s the first MLB pitcher with three scoreless starts.
