During those four seasons, Haack has been one of the punters who is utilized the most frequently throughout the league and has performed an average of slightly under 77 punts per season. When compared to Bojorquez’s total from the previous year, which was only 41, this is close to being double.
Haack has a career average of 44.7 yards per punt, which isn’t really the longest, but what he is incredibly accurate with his punts is what sets him apart from other punters.
It is estimated that 37.4 percent of his punts are brought down within the opponent’s 20-yard line on average. The fact that he has only 15 touchbacks while having 114 punts that have fallen within the opponent’s 20-yard line is even more impressive.
He has had a touchback rate of less than 3% in each of the past two seasons, while Corey Bojorquez’s touchback rate in the previous season was greater than 10%.
This is the most notable distinction between the two punters, and I have a feeling that it was one of the factors that finally led to the Buffalo Bills deciding to make the swap. The other factor has to do with money.
Spotrac indicates that Haack agreed to a three-year, $5.475 contract with no more than a $2 million cap hit during any season.
