After Jake Esch was designated for assignment on June 11, 2017, the Padres called up Matton. For the rest of the season, Maton pitched in a middle relief position for the major league team.

Wil Myers was placed on the disabled list on April 4, prompting Maton’s promotion from Triple-A El Paso to the majors.

On May 13, Maton was placed on the DL due to strained lat and returned to the team on June 21 following a rehab stint.

Maton pitched in 23 games for the Cleveland Indians in 2020, going 3–3 with a 4.57 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 21.2 innings.
