Robert Hunt, who was born on August 25, 1996, plays offensive lineman for the National Football League’s Miami Dolphins (NFL). He participated in collegiate football for the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns.
Hunt was born in Wiergate, Texas, and later moved with his family at an early age to Fort Worth, Texas. After Hurricane Rita, his family briefly relocated back to the Wiergate neighborhood before fleeing to Fort Worth, and after his family’s home burned down, they once again relocated to Fort Worth.
After his freshman year, Hunt returned to Newton County to live with his aunt and started attending Burkeville High School. He participated in both basketball and football for the Mustangs. Hunt decided against accepting a scholarship from Houston to play collegiate football in Louisiana.
Hunt redshirted his actual rookie year. After spring practice, he was named the Ragin’ Cajuns starting left guard and started all 13 of the team’s contests as a redshirt freshman.
Hunt started 11 games as a redshirt sophomore (nine at left guard and two at left tackle), missing one game due to a suspension. Hunt was a redshirt junior who started all 14 Ragin’ Cajuns games and was chosen second-team. All-Sun Belt Conference
Hunt was a redshirt senior who only saw action in seven games because of a groin ailment, but he was nonetheless nominated to the first team of the Sun Belt. He received an invitation to play in the 2020 Senior Bowl, but was unable to do so because of his injuries.
The Miami Dolphins selected Hunt with the 39th pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. On September 13, 2020, Hunt made his NFL debut against the New England Patriots in the first game of the year. On October 11, 2020, Hunt lined up at right tackle in a 43-17 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, marking his first career start.
