What team Is Willie Calhoun On?

Willie Shawn Lamont Calhoun is an outfielder with the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball in the United States. In 2017, he made his MLB debut.



Calhoun went to Benicia High School, which is located in Benicia, California. He was drafted in the 17th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft by the Tampa Bay Rays, however he did not sign with them.

played college baseball for the Arizona Wildcats at the University of Arizona. He played collegiate summer baseball with the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Wareham Gatemen in 2014.



He transferred to Yavapai College after a year in Arizona. Calhoun signed a junior college letter of intent with Kansas State University but chose to sign a professional contract with the Dodgers.

Calhoun was drafted in the fourth round of the 2015 MLB draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He debuted professionally with the Ogden Raptors before moving on to the Great Lakes Loons and Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. Between the three levels, he hit .316 with 11 home runs and 47 RBI in 73 games.

He was promoted to the Texas League’s Double-A Tulsa Drillers to begin the 2016 season.

He was named to the U.S. team for the All-Star Futures Game and was selected as a starter for the mid-season Texas League All-Star game.

He was also named to the post-season all-star team at the end of the season. He hit .254 with 27 home runs and 88 RBI in 132 games for the Drillers.

Calhoun was assigned to the Arizona Fall League’s Glendale Desert Dogs after the season. He was named MVP of the Fall Stars Game, which featured the league’s top prospects, after going 3 for 3 with a home run.

To begin the 2017 season, he was promoted to the Triple-A Oklahoma City Dodgers, where he performed admirably enough to earn a spot on the Pacific Coast League mid-season all-star team as the starting second baseman.
