Theodore Edmond Bridgewater Jr., a quarterback with the National Football League’s Miami Dolphins, was born on November 10, 1992. (NFL).
He attended Louisville University where he played college football before being taken in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings.
Two concussions marked Teddy Bridgewater’s season, but in his eyes, they won’t spell the end of his professional career. The Broncos quarterback is unfazed by his seventh professional season, which has been challenging, and plans to return in 2022, whether it’s in Denver or somewhere else.
Bridgewater has doubted his ability to play in the NFL frequently this season if he has done so.
In the NFL, among quarterbacks who have completed more than 20 passes, he ranks second only to Miami’s Jacoby Brissett in terms of sacks with 31 and pressure on 37.4 percent of his dropbacks.
On Oct. 3 during a loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Bridgewater suffered his first concussion, although he was able to start the following week.
In Week 15 against the Cincinnati Bengals, he was upended at the conclusion of a scramble and awkwardly landed on his facemask and shoulder pads, suffering a more severe concussion.
He was admitted to the hospital the next day, hasn’t played since and was just placed on injured reserve. Given that he is expected to become an unrestricted free agency in 2022, it is unclear whether Bridgewater will make a comeback in Denver.
He was given the starting job over Drew Lock in the preseason of his first season with the Broncos after being acquired from the Carolina Panthers for a sixth-round draft pick. He guided the team to an impressive 3-0 start.
From that point on, though, Denver’s season fell apart, and at 7-9 with one game remaining against the Kansas City Chiefs, the team was unable to make the postseason for the sixth consecutive year.
