Joseph Cardona popularly known as Joe Cardona is a long snapper with the New England Patriots of the National Football League. He was born on April 16, 1992. Cardona, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, is a lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserve.

Cardona, a Mexican-American who was raised in El Cajon, California, is the son of Patrick and Margaret Cardona. Joe has three sisters: Sophia Cardona, Arthur, and Adrienne Hernandez, who are older siblings.

Prior to attending the Naval Academy, where he specialized in economics, Cardona spent a year studying at the Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, Rhode Island, following high school.



Cardona was drafted in the fifth round (166th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft. In collegiate football, he played for the Navy.

He is only the fourth player ever classified as a long snapper to be picked in the first round, and the second-highest drafted long snapper in NFL history, behind Ryan Pontbriand.

He won Super Bowl LI and Super Bowl LIII with the Patriots. Cardona became the fourth pure long snapper to be selected in NFL history on May 2, 2015, when the New England Patriots took him in the fifth round (166th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft (and the second drafted by the Patriots, after Jake Ingram)
