Desmond Ridder is currently in his first season with the Atlanta Falcons of the NFL. He was raised by his grandma and his then teenage mom, who at the time was 15 when she gave birth to him.

Before enrolling at St. Xavier High School, Ridder initially attended Holy Family Parochial. Ridder was named All-Metro as a senior at St. Xavier, where he led the Tigers in rushing with 668 yards and 12 touchdowns while also leading the team in passing with 1,319 yards and nine touchdown passes.

After high school, Ridder attended the University of Cincinnati from (2017–2021) and played for the Bearcats.



Ridder did not play during his first year as a true freshman. As a redshirt freshman, he was given the starting quarterback position for the Bearcats and went on to pass for 2,445 yards and 20 touchdowns while also rushing for 583 yards and five touchdowns.

As a result of his play, he was awarded the title of American Athletic Conference (AAC) Rookie of the Year.

Ridder completed 179 of 325 passes for 2,164 yards and 18 touchdowns as a redshirt sophomore, while also rushing for 650 yards and five touchdowns in the same season. He had nine interceptions in addition to his 18 touchdown passes.
