Crawford had to redshirt as a true freshman because a knee ailment kept him out for more than two games. As a redshirt freshman, he made 10 starts for North Carolina. He made 29 tackles as a sophomore, with 5.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, and a fumble recovery. He started all 12 of his games.

As a junior in preseason camp, Crawford damaged his MCL and tore his PCL. He was able to return on October 13, 2018, but his participation in the second and final game of the season on October 27 was limited and he was wearing a knee brace.

Crawford joined the Baltimore Ravens on April 25, 2020, as an undrafted free agent after going undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft.

On September 5, 2020, he was released at the final roster cuts, and the following day, he joined their practice squad.
