Crawford had to redshirt as a true freshman because a knee ailment kept him out for more than two games. As a redshirt freshman, he made 10 starts for North Carolina. He made 29 tackles as a sophomore, with 5.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, and a fumble recovery. He started all 12 of his games.

On September 5, 2020, he was released at the final roster cuts, and the following day, he joined their practice squad.
