CeeDee Lamb was a student-athlete at John and Randolph Foster High School in Richmond, Texas. Coming out of high school, Lamb had offers from universities including the University of Alabama and the University of Texas. He was rated as a 4-star prospect by 247Sports.com, Rivals.com, and ESPN.

CeeDee Lamb eventually enrolled at the University of Oklahoma and played for the Oklahoma Sooners from 2017 to 2019.

He caught a pass from Baker Mayfield, who would later win the Heisman Trophy, while a true freshman at Oklahoma in 2017. He participated in all 14 games, recording 46 receptions (tied for second place among freshmen), 807 yards (a school record for a freshman), and seven touchdowns (tied the school freshman record).



During the game against Texas Tech, he set new marks for the most receptions and receiving yards by a freshman in a single game at the school and tied the record for the most touchdown catches by a rookie in a single game. He was named a freshman All-American by ESPN.

Kyler Murray, who would also win the Heisman Trophy, was his starting quarterback as a sophomore in 2018. Lamb was an essential member of the Sooners’ team that finished with a record of 12–2 and qualified for the playoffs.
