Golston started his football career at the East English Village Preparatory Academy. He helped the side qualify for the state playoffs three years in a row.

He earned first-team honors on the all-state, all-metro, and all-city lists as a senior after recording 43 tackles and 9 sacks on the football field.

Chauncey Golston attended the University of Iowa on scholarship and played for the Iowa Hawkeyes from 2016 to 2020.

He played defensive end as a backup for the team as a redshirt freshman and had a total of two tackles.

Golston appeared in all 13 games as a crucial backup in his sophomore season, recording 35 tackles (9 for loss), 3.5 sacks, 3 quarterback pressures, one interception, one pass breakup, and three fumble recoveries.

During the game against the University of Minnesota, he recorded three tackles and one sack. In the game against Northwestern University, he recorded five tackles and one sack.

He was selected as the team’s defensive end starter for all 13 games as a junior in the 4-3 defense. He finished the game with 47 tackles, including 9.5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, 7 quarterback pressures, 1 interception, and 5 pass breakups.
