Cornelius Marquis Elder is a 28-year-old American football cornerback for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL).

He played college football at the University of Miami and was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Elder has also been a member of the New York Giants and Detroit Lions.

Elder was a two-time Mr. Football Player of the Year in Tennessee and a four-star running back coming out of high school. He was a two-sport standout in high school and received a basketball scholarship offer from Purdue.

He joined the basketball squad as soon as he got at the University of Miami. He opted to devote all of his attention to football after tearing the meniscus in his right knee.

The Carolina Panthers selected Elder in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, 152nd overall. Due to a knee injury, he was put on injured reserve on September 3, 2017. On August 30, 2019, Elder was released following the last round of roster cuts.

On October 13, 2021, Elder was signed off the Panthers’ practice squad. The 11th of January 2022 saw him resign. Elder was released by the Commanders on August 30, 2022, and the following day he was signed to the practice squad.
