Defensive tackle Tanielu “Daniel” Ekuale competes in American football for the National Football League’s New England Patriots. He is 136 kg and 1.91 m tall. His high school was Nuuuli Vocational Technical. Most recruiting organizations in American Samoa regarded him as the top college prospect in his class, and he chose Washington State University over offers from other institutions in order to play college football.

He spent five seasons playing collegiate football for the Washington State Cougars at Washington State University, redshirting his true freshman year. During his redshirt junior season, he started at nose tackle for the Cougars, compiling a career-high 23 tackles and a sack.

His collegiate career came to an end with 71 total tackles, three sacks, and two forced fumbles. In May 2018, he agreed to a free agent contract with the Cleveland Browns. He was released following training camp, but in September 2018, the Browns re-signed him to their practice squad. The Browns released him in September of 2020. He was hired by the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad the same month.
