Deion Jones started off his football career when he attended Jesuit High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. The New Orleans native was a three-year starter at middle linebacker during his high school career.

During his senior year, he led Jesuit to the LHSAA Class 5A quarterfinals, where they ultimately fell to Carencro. He recorded 179 tackles, eight sacks, and three interceptions.

Jones, a three-star recruit, was listed as the No. 31 outside linebacker prospect in the class of 2012 by Rivals.com.

Jones, who was recruited by Corey Raymond, first committed to Nebraska in August 2011, but later switched to Louisiana State after receiving a late offer in December 2011.
