Wide receiver DeVonta Smith is a working football player for the National Football League’s Philadelphia Eagles. He played both football and basketball while he was a student at Amite High Magnet School. He attended the University of Alabama and participated in collegiate football with the Alabama Crimson Tide after graduating.

In 2017, he has eight receptions for 160 yards and three touchdowns as a true freshman. In 2018, as a sophomore, he hauled in 42 passes for 693 yards and six scores. With 1,256 yards and 14 touchdowns on 68 catches, he was the Crimson Tide’s top receiver in terms of receiving yards and scores. His 274 yards and 5 touchdowns in a game in September 2018 were career highs.

In November 2020, he eclipsed the prior SEC career mark for the most receiving touchdowns. As an Alabama athlete, he broke more than seven school records for receptions. He was asked to participate in the 2021 Senior Bowl, but he rejected. With the tenth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles selected Smith.
