Ezekiel Elliott has always had athletic genes in him growing up, so it’s not new to see the level of pedigree he has in the sport.

Elliott’s mother and father both competed at the collegiate level in their respective sports, before  Elliott was born. His mother, formerly known as Dawn Huff, won state titles in three different sports while still in high school.

She went on to run track at the University of Missouri. His father, Stacy, played linebacker for the University of Missouri football team and served as the Chief Executive Officer of Fifth Down Enterprises.

Elliott’s great-grandfather attended and competed in basketball for Drake University. Shawn Huff, a Finnish pro basketball player, is his uncle.

Ezekiel Elliott attended John Burroughs School in Ladue, Missouri. Elliott excelled in three different sports, including track and field, basketball, and football. He was also a baseball player.

He was a member of the John Burroughs Bombers football team, where he played as a running back. When he was a junior in 2012, he was honored as the offensive player of the year by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

During that season, he rushed for 1,802 yards and scored 34 touchdowns, and he also caught 23 receptions for 401 yards and six touchdowns.

After high school, Ezekiel Elliott attended Ohio State University and played for the Ohio State Buckeyes from 2013 to 2015.

In 2013, while serving as a backup to the team’s starting running back Carlos Hyde at Ohio State University, Elliott carried for a total of 262 yards on 30 rushes and scored two touchdowns. Elliott was primarily used as a gunner on special teams.
