Jaylen Watson, a cornerback with the National Football League’s Kansas City Chiefs, was born on September 17, 1998. He attended Ventura College during his college football career before moving to Washington State.

At the 2022 NFL Draft, the Chiefs selected him in the seventh round. In addition to Lucy Craft Laney High School, Watson also attended Curtis Baptist High School while growing up in Augusta, Georgia.

Watson enrolled at Ventura College to start his college career. He had 43 tackles as a sophomore while also recording 13 pass breakups, four interceptions, and one fumble recovery.

Watson had initially committed to transferring to USC but was unable to do so because of his academic standing.

Watson started all three games during the Washington State Cougars’ COVID-19-shortened 2020 season at cornerback and was selected honorable mention All-Pac-12 Conference after compiling 13 tackles, two passes were broken up, a forced fumble, and one recovered fumble.

In the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Watson was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs as the 243rd overall pick.

Against the Los Angeles Chargers, Watson scored a touchdown and made his first career interception. He scored on a 99-yard interception return. He was honored as the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his effort.
