After a successful high school career, Davis attended the University of Georgia and played Georgia Bulldogs from 2018 to 2021.

As a true freshman, Davis appeared in 11 games and started four of them. He finished the season with 25 tackles and 1.5 sacks, which earned him recognition as a member of the SEC All-Freshman team as well as a Freshman All-American from the Football Writers Association of America.

He had a total of 18 stops, 4.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks in his sophomore season. Davis got 16 tackles and a sack during the truncated 2020 season that was caused by COVID-19, and he led his team to victory in the 2021 Peach Bowl.

As a senior, Davis recorded 32 tackles, two sacks, and a running touchdown, making it his greatest season. Following the conclusion of a perfect regular season, Davis and the Bulldogs were defeated by the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2021 Southeastern Conference Championship.
