Josh Thomas plays safety in American football for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League.

While attending The Montgomery Academy, he was named to the All-State team twice in the sport of football and four times in the sport of basketball and went on to become the city’s all-time highest scorer in boys basketball.

Josh Thomas attended Appalachian State University after high school. He played collegiate football for the Mountaineers while being enrolled at Appalachian State University.



He had a career-high 72 tackles as a senior, along with 2.0 tackles for loss, one interception returned for a touchdown for a distance of 16 yards, one fumble recovered for a gain of 37 yards, and one tackle for a loss of one.

He twice held the position of team captain while in college. In his 56 games, he made 30 starts.

Thomas was not drafted but he was signed by the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent in May 2020 after going undrafted in the NFL Draft.

He was let go as part of the final roster cuts on September 5, 2020. The following day, he joined the team’s practice squad.

In October 2021, he was added to the roster’s active section. The Bills once more released him on August 31, 2021
