As a junior, he finished the year with 79 tackles and 12 sacks. As a senior, he recorded 91 tackles and 19 sacks to help the team go 12-2 and reach the 6A playoffs of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association.

He participated in collegiate football for the University of Kentucky’s Kentucky Wildcats team while he was a student there. As a true freshman, he played in 12 of the 13 games, making a total of 14 tackles and one pass breakup.
