He was a wide receiver for the football squad while he was a student at Choctawhatchee High School. He accepted Central Florida’s offer to play college football over those from other schools despite being rated a two star prospect coming out of high school by 247Sports.

He played for the University of Central Florida’s UCF Knights football team from 2016 to 2020. In the rotation of the defensive backfield as a redshirt freshman, he redshirted his true freshman season. Prior to his redshirt sophomore season, he was given the starting nod.

He led the Knights in tackles (109), interceptions (6), and was selected first team All-American Athletic Conference (AAC) as a sophomore. He led the team with 72 tackles as a redshirt senior and added 3.5 tackles for a loss, three interceptions, six pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. He was named first team All-AAC for the third consecutive season.

He was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award and a semifinalist for the Bednarik Award as a senior. The Atlanta Falcons selected Grant with the 40th overall choice in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. In June 2021, he agreed to a four-year rookie deal with the Falcons. A $3.4 million signing bonus is included in the $8.3 million contract’s total value.
