Despite being an unsigned free agent, Trent Harris plays outside linebacker in the NFL. He stands 1.88 meters tall and weighs 116 kilograms. He was raised in the American city of Winter Park, Florida. Winter Park High School was his alma mater.

After graduating from high school, he enrolled at the University of Miami, where he played NCAA football for the Miami Hurricanes. He played for the Miami Hurricanes for four seasons, and as a senior, he led the team with 10.5 and 37 tackles, sacks, and tackles for loss. The team that finished third in the Atlantic Coast Conference gave him praise as well.

Harris joined the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in April 2018. He was released following training camp, but in September 2018, the Patriots eventually added him back to their practice squad. The Miami Dolphins picked him up off waivers in September 2019. On September 22, 2019, he made his NFL debut. The Dolphins offer Harris a $585,000, one-year deal in March 2020.

On April 22, 2020, he executed the deal. In October 2020, he joined the New York Giants practice squad, and on October 17 and October 22, he was added to the active roster. He lost his job in May 2022. He signed a contract in August 2022 with the Baltimore Ravens, however that same month, the team released him.
