In order to keep his redshirt, he played in four games for the TCU Horned Frogs in 2018. As a redshirt freshman, he enjoyed a breakthrough year in 2019. He got the most starts by a rookie under coach Gary Patterson in the final three games of the season and led the team with five interceptions.
