Carl Davis is a defensive tackle who plays American football for the New England Patriots of the National Football League. He participated in football during his high school years at Adlai Stevenson High School. He was selected for the first team of all-state by the Detroit Free Press, Detroit News, and Macomb Daily.
He was named to the first team of the league in his senior year after being named to the second team in his junior year. He participated in collegiate football while a student at the University of Iowa as a player for the Iowa Hawkeyes. He received a redshirt as a true freshman in 2010 at the University of Iowa. He has played in six games as a redshirt freshman and has two tackles.
He started all 13 games during his rookie campaign as a starter in 2013. The 2015 NFL Draft’s third round saw the Baltimore Ravens select him. In May 2015, he agreed to a $4 million, four-year deal with the Ravens, which also had a $625,084 signing bonus. Davis received a release from the Browns in August of this year.
In October of this year, the Indianapolis Colts acquired him. After being released in November of 2019, he was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars the following month. He was a practice squad member for the Jaguars until the New England Patriots signed him in October 2020. He renewed with the Patriots in April 2022 after extending his deal with them in March 2021.
